3. Replace the water if necessary.

4. Rinse the equipment with a garden hose or a clean bucket of water.

5. Allow the equipment to air dry before letting your children play.

Disinfecting

Antibacterial soap can help remove germs from playground equipment. However, focus on frequently touched areas for added peace of mind. Consider the following products:

• Alcohol: A solution of 70% isopropyl alcohol is effective for small areas that are touched often, though it evaporates quickly and may not be ideal for larger areas.

Tackling Mould and Mildew

Mould and mildew can develop on various surfaces of outdoor playsets. If left untreated, it can damage equipment and create an unhealthy environment.

Several solutions can help remove mould:

 

• Bleach: For mould removal, a stronger bleach solution is recommended. Use a one-to-one ratio of bleach and water, apply as a spot treatment, and wear gloves for protection. Rinse thoroughly before allowing play.

• Vinegar: Use undiluted white vinegar with at least 5% acetic acid. Spray the affected area and let it sit for an hour before rinsing.

• Mould Removal Spray: Alternatively, use a household cleaner specifically for mould and mildew, such as a bathroom cleaner, many of which are suitable for other surfaces as well.
