How to Plan a Kids Party

How to Plan a Kids Party

Are you tasked with planning a kids’ party? Party planning can be stressful, but fortunately, kids aren’t too difficult to please. They are easily entertained and enjoy almost anything you throw their way.

Still, you must put some effort into your party planning routine. Here are some steps you can follow.

Send Out Invitations

Work with your child to determine who they would like to invite. Then send out invitations.

Today, casual invitations are typically sent over the internet, but you don’t assume all young kids are on their devices. Send out paper invitations (your child can even make these) and have your child deliver them the next time they see them.

You may also follow up with parents online to ensure they know about the party.

Different people may have different ideas of when invitations should be sent out, but I think two weeks is perfect. It gives guests enough time to plan but it’s close enough that they won’t forget about the party.

Plan the Food

Once you have an idea of how many children to expect, you can start planning the food and drinks.

If you host the party late in the afternoon, you may not need to serve lunch. However, you will still need to serve snacks and goodies like chips, cookies, and some healthy options like nuts and popcorn. And don’t forget about the cake- or, if you are looking for a simpler option, cupcakes are typically less expensive and easy to serve.

If you decide to serve lunch, pizza, burgers, and hot dogs are great crowd-pleasers. Keep guests hydrated with water, sodas, and juice to please all tastes.

Decorate

Next, you will have to decorate the area where you want to throw the party. Involve your child to make the task more fun. You can have them make decorations and have a blast blowing up and hanging balloons and streamers.

Plan an Activity

Activity planning is easy when kids are concerned. With a bit of guidance, children can easily entertain themselves.

Entertainment is a no-brainer if you have an outdoor play area. You can have the kids climb on children’s play equipment, swing on swings, and bounce on trampolines.

If you want more structured play time, get a pinata or set up an arts and crafts table. You can also engage the kids in tag, a treasure hunt, or another activity you think they will enjoy.

Get Souvenirs

When it’s time to go home, ensure your guests have a souvenir from the party. Make gift bags with small gifts and candy or let the take home the art they’ve created at the event.
